"Swing Thing Fling" - Guitar Tab - Alexandr Misko

“Swing Thing Fling” is a fun and playful tune built around groovy, swingy, hiphop-inspired drums and rhythmic guitar playing. The song is heavily influenced by the music of Don Ross, especially his signature groove and bass-driven style.

I even start the song with a short beatbox jam to lock into the right groove and show that I’m ready to have some fun!

The main idea behind this tune is to fully integrate my “Frankenstein Guitar” drum setup into a funky, swinging context.

To recreate the sound exactly as I do, I recommend using my Schlagwerk addons: FrameBuzz as a snare, Krix as an open hi-hat, and SamJam as a hi-hat. These elements give the song its characteristic hip-hop drum tone, which is harder to achieve using only traditional wooden guitar percussion.

However, all of these parts can still be adapted for a standard guitar setup. Most of the guitar part is played using tapping, and the arrangement is built around catchy riffs, making it relatively easy to learn and fun to play.

The chorus introduces a more inverted playing approach, similar to what you might recognize from “My Favorite Thunderstorm”, featuring unorthodox slap harmonics, tapping ideas, and percussive elements that feel surprisingly natural once you get used to them.

The bridge section requires one Keith Banjo Detuner on the second string for detunable harmonics, as well as additional bass detuning on the bridge. If you do not have a detunable bridge, this part can be adapted by playing or tapping the bass notes manually.
