“Careless Whisper (Final Boss Version)” is a completely reimagined take on my original 2017 arrangement. While it may appear incredibly complex at first glance, this version is actually much smoother, more playable, and easier to navigate than the earlier version from the Beyond The Box album.
Although the tuning and some ideas remain similar, the overall philosophy behind the piece has changed significantly.
This arrangement relies heavily on my detunable bridge system, which is used to perform the entire moving bass line in real time. Because of this, recreating the piece exactly without such a system can be quite challenging.
However, it is still possible to adapt the arrangement. You would need at least two Keith Banjo Detuners on the top strings to perform the main riff, and ideally a third Detuner on the fifth string for full functionality.
Even without the bridge-based bass changes, the piece remains technically demanding, featuring multiple sections and intricate transitions. At the same time, it is now a very enjoyable arrangement to play.
Compared to the original version, this one flows more naturally, has a slower and groovier feel, and translates much better into a concert setting.
