home-guitar-tab-alexandr-misko
"Home" - Guitar Tab - Alexandr Misko

“Home” is an epic six-minute progressive metal journey and one of the most dramatic and important pieces on the album.

It also represents my “Frankenstein Guitar” style very clearly, combining many of the extended techniques and mechanical ideas that define this instrument and my way of playing it.

To perform the song exactly as I do, you would need several Schlagwerk addon drums: FrameBuzz as a snare, Krix as an open hi-hat cymbal, and SamJam as a hi-hat.

In addition, the arrangement requires one Keith Banjo Detuner and one Timara String Drop on the first string to accommodate melody changes throughout the song.

The piece includes a wide variety of techniques: detunings, drumming, harmonics, and even chopstick bowing, which is one of my signature techniques.

For these sections, you can use a chopstick, pencil, or a special guitar bow with enough rosin applied. It is also important to be able to switch quickly between normal playing and bowing during the piece.

I personally keep the chopstick attached to the headstock with a hair tie, so I can grab it and put it away quickly whenever needed.

All of these transitions are carefully marked and explained throughout the tablature.

The ending of the song also requires live looping, so a loop pedal is essential if you want to perform the full arrangement. Some additional effects are also recommended to recreate the sound of the album version more closely.

Because of this, the tab is split into two separate documents: the first one covers the solo guitar arrangement, and the second one explains the looping section.

The looping part is the loudest and most dramatic section of the entire piece, and without a loop pedal it unfortunately cannot be performed in the same way.

The live version sounds slightly different from the album recording because of technical limitations, so feel free to check out my live performances of “Home” to better understand how the looping section works on stage.

All detunings, drumming techniques, pedal effects, bowing instructions, loops, and timings are explained thoroughly throughout the tablature with detailed text notes.

This is one of the most detailed tabs I’ve ever created. The tablature is provided in Guitar Pro 7 and PDF formats, and the package also includes the album version of the track in WAV format.
